Fashion Dupes: 3 Shoes That Are Just as Gorgeous as the More Expensive Ones

Hi chicas,

Nothing makes me happier than shoes. With shoes, you don’ have to stress about your size – like, my size has remained the same since jr. high. Awesome, right?

Whether I’m rocking chunky block heels, sparkly sneakers or classic black flats, shoes put me in a great mood. I get so giddy when I add a new pair to my collection.

While I believe you should invest in shoes and purses, I don’t think all of your kicks need to be expensive.

Let me explain:

The way I see it, when you invest in closet staples like black flats or knee-high boots, they are more likely to last you a long time. It makes sense to spend more money on comfort, quality material for shoes that will go with pretty much anything for a few years.

However, when it comes to trendy items I think it’s better to buy less expensive shoes. Why? Because they’re more likely to go “out of style” within a couple of months (even though you should always wear whatever the hell you want whenever the hell you want).

So with that in mind, I want to share some of the cutest dupes I’ve purchased/am coveting.

3 Ways Petites Can Look Taller In Flats

Hi Petite Peeps!

I wanna take your shoe game to new heights!

Okay, that was really cheesy.

Being petite, it’s easy to find yourself constantly wearing heels. I get it. When I go out, I feel the need to wear heels (mostly out of fear that the bouncer will look at my I.D. and think it’s a fake, but I’m 22. I promise!). When I pick out an outfit for work, heels are the first thing I choose (most of the time). On weekends, I give myself a break. I literally do not care if I’m the shortest person at the mall, ice cream shop or movie theater. Concerts are a different story.

I wanted to share with my petites out there 3 fun ways to look (and feel) tall without having to torture your feet in heels all day. They need a break, too! So I’m gonna share #mypetitestyle in hopes that it inspires you to play around with your flats and sneakers.

My Petite Style:

Disclaimer: My shoe size is 6

Good 'ol chucks

Outfit details:

High-waisted jeans make your legs appear longer than they really are (well, high-waisted anything). Look for jeans that are fitting. I prefer skinny jeans because it actually fits and shows my figure. Plus, it gives me more room to play around with my tops.

Bonus tip: I purchased these classic black converse in the kids section! They were way cheaper, and fit better than the size 6. AND, these jeans are $10 at Forever 21. Go get yourself 1… or 2!

Black flats

Black flats

Outfit details:

Since I’m petite, I can get away with wearing really short skirts/shorts/dresses. It shows more skin, making our legs seems longer than they really are. It’s all about illusions, peeps!

Bonus Tip: I found these playful flats at AGAC’I (they were purchased online).  There’s a nail polish and perfume bottle on the flats. They were on sale, too for $12!!!

Sparkle sandals

Outfit details:

Just like flats, have fun with your sandals, too. I love the colorful jewels on my sandals! Pair them with a short, sleeveless dress to add length. Basically, if you’re showing skin in the leg and arm area, you’re gonna looker taller. Since I’m petite, clothes usually swallow me up, so showing skin accentuates my true figure.

Bonus tip: When buying sandals, try searching for sandals that are close to your skin-tone. Nude sandals work best for me (even the sandals shown, are a bit light brown). Nude colored sandals lengthen my legs even more because it’s the same color as my skin. It looks like an extension of my legs. (Same concept applies when buying nude pumps).

3 Pairs of Shoes That Go From Day to Night

I firmly believe in Sophia Amoruso’s motto: “Money looks better in the bank than on your feet.” But if I’m being completely honest, I can’t help but satisfy my obsession for really great shoes, especially when they’re on SALE!

I want you guys to always look your best. Shoes can make or break a first impression. I’ve seen so many people nicely dressed for an interview and wear the wrong shoes!!! It’s like, come on! You worked so hard to get all the details in your outfit right, and slacked off at the very end.

I’ve seen girls wear awesome, #GirlBoss slacks and ruin the outfit with torn up flats (you can buy flats anywhere! They are so cheap). I’ve also seen girls wear great, tailored dresses and wear stripper shoes (FYI: Not a good look for an interview).

Height is very important when picking out shoes that can be used for any event. Comfort is ALWAYS key, but so is sophistication. And always, always remember that you can buy classy and comfortable shoes for a great price!

I want to share 3 of my favorite pairs of shoes with you that are practical, yet chic for any occasion!

1. $20-$35

Forever 21 is a great place to shop for shoes that aren’t overpriced. Their wedges run between $20-$35 and most of them are made with quality. I’ve had these shoes for over a year, and paid $32. It took a while to break them in, but it was so worth it! They are my favorite shoes. I love that the heel is thick, making them more comfortable. Since the heel isn’t too high I can wear them to day time events, too! (See image 1) If I want to dress up my outfit I can totally rock a cute skirt (purchased in downtown Eagle Pass!!) and attend any night time events like grabbing dinner with friends at a fancy restaurant, or attending any networking parties. (See image 2).

2. $15-$20

Look how long and lean my legs look!! These shoes make me feel so polished and snazzy because of its simplicity. The straps add a dapper touch to this classic heel. The heel is short, which makes the thinness of the heel very easy to walk in. I feel so fabulous and chic with when I’m in them. I found these gems at Ross for $16. Most of their pumps and wedges run between $15-$30. I love that these heels can be classy for the office (See image 3) and sexy enough for a club (See image 4).

3. $25-$40

Disclaimer: Okay so I’ve never spent more than $30 on the MakeMeChic for booties. You can find some great deals (and steals) on this website for cute, charming and comfortable shoes. I know booties are more of a fall thing, but I’m a huge sucker for pairing them with fun, flowy skirts and really cute, country looking denim shorts. I’m breaking a little fashion rules, but fashion is about fun! I love that these shoes go with EVERYTHING!!! Since summer is pretty much here, I think they look great with skirts. These booties are great because not only are they extremely cozy, but they are great for any night-time event. When you feel like two-steppin, or going to outdoor movie screenings these shoes are perfect for those down-to-earth gatherings. Plus, you can totally rock them at work!
