My 10 Favorite Drugstore Products

Hi dolls!

I always say that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to look or feel good. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t invest in yourself. My mom always says that you should always dress the part because you never know who you’re going to run into. While it might be the Latina in her, my mom definitely has a point! You should always try to look your best. I grew up in a really tiny town and trust me, I always ran into someone no matter where I went. I would literally see about 5 people when I went to the grocery store. So yeah, I always try to look “good” when I leave my house. I don’t want to traumatize anyone. LOL!

Just remember – you don’t need to break the bank to look your best! I love finding great beauty and fashion products that do the job for a great price. I’ve rounded up my 10 favorite drugstore products that will make you look flawless and confident throughout the day.

***

1. NYX “Set it & Don’t Fret It” Setting Powder: $9.99

It’s important to note that this setting powder won’t give you flashback. By that I mean, when you use flash on your camera, you won’t look like you just came out of the Scarface movie. Remember when Angelina Jolie looked like a crazy cocaine addict because there was white powder all over her face? (See pics here) Yeah, you don’t want that happening. This powder really sets your foundation and concealer nicely, and your makeup won’t budge. For $10, this is a product I can’t live without.

2. Milani Baked Bronzer: $8.49 (I’ve mentioned this bronzer before in another favorites post)

This bronzer is definitely one of my all-time favorite drugstore bronzers EVER! As I’ve mentioned before, it gives you a flawless glow. It’s perfect for summertime.

3. Flower “Go Baby Go” Blush Bronzer Duo: $7.63 (I think this cosmetic line is exclusively sold at Wal-Mart)

I absolutely love that this is a blush/bronzer duo. It’s perfect if you’re traveling or need to sneak it into your purse for a little touch up throughout the day. This product has a lot of pigment, so don’t go in heavy handed. The brush will pick up a lot of powder! I also like to rub the bronzer on my lids to use as an eyeshadow.

1. Maybelline Lash Sensational: $5.99 (I’ve mentioned this mascara before in another favorites post)

I love that this mascara gives you both volume and length! It can be hard to find a mascara that does both, and this one definitely gets the job done! I also love that it doesn’t get clumpy. Even after two coats of mascara, my lashes don’t look clumpy or stuck together. It has a fast drying time, which is nice, especially if you want more than one coat.

2. Maybelline Volum’ Express Colossal: $6.99

This mascara truly gives you thicker lashes. It creates a falsie lashes look that I love so much. Not only is the mascara as black as my soul, but it adds so much volume and drama to my lashes. I love it.

3. NYC City Proof 24HR Waterproof Eyeliner: $3.57

I personally like using a brown eyeliner because it warms my brown eyes more than black eyeliner. I love that this one applies smoothly and easily. It lasts all day without too much smudging on my top liner. For the price, it’s a solid eyeliner that I can’t stop buying.

4. L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow: $7.99

I LOVE THESE!!!! These shadows are seriously gorgeous! Not only does L’Oreal have a beautiful color range, but I love the added luminosity and glow these shadows give your eyes. The color pigmentation is just too flawless. I highly recommend buying more than one shadows because you won’t be disappointed.

1. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: $6.99

I cannot stop buying this concealer. If you have oily skin and crease a lot under your eyes, then you’ll love this concealer. I noticed when I use this concealer, it gives my skin a flawless finish, while also keeping my eyelids and under eye area from smudging or looking cakey. It lasts all day. I tend to get red around the nose and chin area, and when I use this concealer, I notice that it keeps the redness from showing through throughout the day. As you can see from the picture, I need to buy a new one soon.

2. Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer: $7.99

This is another concealer I love using. It really hydrates my skin when I’m feeling more dry. Normally, I’m an oily person, but when I use my nightcream it dries out my skin in the morning. I love using this product when I don’t want any heavy coverage. I like using this product the most during the winter because it helps with the dry, patchy skin as well as gives me light coverage.

3. L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray: $16.99

If you can’t splurge on the Urban Decay setting spray, then this is your best option! I love that this setting spray hydrates my skin while also setting my makeup. I like that this setting spray gives you a lot of product from very little pumps. I usually have to spray my Urban Decay spray so many times to get product out, but this one does the job in one or two sprays. If you have oily, combo skin, then this product will leave your makeup matte. It won’t make you more oily throughout the day.

My 5 Favorite Red Lipsticks

Hi beauties!

Valentine’s Day is approaching! Not only does that mean chocolate (!!!), but it means wearing the hell out of your red lipsticks. Although, red lipstick never goes out of style and you can pretty much wear it anytime of the year. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite shades and red lipsticks with you. Most of these shades are the same, but are different in scent, price, coverage, and texture.

  1. Wet n Wild: 910D Red Velvet ($2.29)
  2. Maybelline: 690 Siren in Scarlet ($7.99)
  3. Make Up For Ever: N45 Rouge Artist Natural ($20)
  4. L’Oreal: 301 Real Red ($7.99)
  5. NYX: LSS516A Chic Red ($4.00)
Wet n Wild: Red Velvet

Wet n Wild: Red Velvet

I love this red because it’s more of an orange toned red and compliments my fair complexion. It’s not too strong or bold. This lipstick has a matte finish and lasts a while without having to re-apply. I would say eating does take off the product, which happens with most lipsticks. The only thing I dislike about this lipstick is that it is round, so it’s hard to apply around your cupid’s bow and outer corners of your lips. But for the affordable price, the color and finish out-perform the applicator. Just use a liner.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte: Siren in Scarlet

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte: Siren in Scarlet

So this one is a true red and it’s slides on perfectly. It has a creamy, moisturizing texture, but it does dry to a matte. I love that even though this is a matte lipstick, and it dries, it still feels like my lips are being hydrated. Because it is thick in texture, you can’t build it up too much or else it starts feeling like Playdough. One or two coats are probably best. It also has a slight fragrance to it.

Make Up Forever: Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick

Make Up Forever: Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick

This product applies and feels more like a lip balm, but the color is rich and vibrant in real life. It is very buildable, and 2-3 applications will do the trick if you want a deep red finish. I love that my lips are moisturized and glossy with this lipstick. It’s not for everyone, especially people who love mattes, but I think the color is beautiful. It does have a round shape to it, and that’s my one complaint. It’s hard to get in the cupid’s bow.

L'Oreal Exclusive Real Red

L’Oreal Exclusive Real Red

So sorry, lovelies! I didn’t know this was an exclusive lip product. There are some available on Amazon and Ebay. I love that this product has anti-aging ingredients and it almost feels as though it plumps your lips at the same time. The fragrance isn’t great. The lipstick applies easily. It almost glides on your lips and feels like a thick balm. The product needs build up. 2 coats is probably the best for a rich red around your lips.

NYX Chic Red

NYX Chic Red

I love this color! Sorry, by this point I didn’t even know where my lips started. LOL From all the applying to taking the product off to applying a new shade, I just couldn’t tell what was my real lip. This color has a hint of magenta in it. I know you can’t tell as much in the image, but in real life there is a hint of deep pink that blends so beautifully into the red. The application is creamy and it has a bit of gloss to it. I think this color is more blue-toned than my other red shades and I love that it’s a bit deeper in color.

red lips

I hope you enjoyed this post!

You can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be stuffing my face with chocolate while wearing a red lip on Valentine’s Day!
