Everyday Back to School Makeup Look

Can you believe school is already starting? I thought it was New Year’s just yesterday! It blows my mind that we are a few months away from Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I wanted to do a fun and easy everyday back to school look! I wanted to keep it simple, fresh, and feminine. I can’t believe I’m saying this… but there really weren’t YouTube makeup tutorials while I was in high school. I’M SO OLD! While I didn’t have YouTube back in the day, I’ve learned a little tips and tricks. I remember waking up super early and not wanting to get out of bed, so I created an easy makeup look that won’t take long to do! I mostly used drugstore items so this look is super affordable, too!

On my face:

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Foundation Stick: $46 (I mentioned this product before right hurrrr)

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: $6.99 (I mentioned this product before right hurrr)

How I Keep My Hair Healthy

So we all want that Serena van der Woodsen hair, right? I know I do! I get asked a lot about my hair – how do you keep it healthy? What products do you use? etc. The truth is, I don’t do much. Yes, I like to use certain brands and products, but I also try to stay away from heating it everyday. I try to keep my mane in its natural wavy style as much as possible.

Oh yeah, I’ve also NEVER colored my hair. Seriously. I have virgin hair, and so I think that my locks are healthy because I’ve never added chemicals to it. However, if you have colored your hair, I’m hoping that the products I mention will help your hair feel soft and smooth, too!

Hair Secrets:

How I keep my hair healthy

Shampoo Conditioner: First off, most people (and hairstylists) will say that you don’t need to wash your hair everyday, but personally I just can’t do that. I’ve tried in the past, and my hair just feels gross and greasy. I also don’t like the idea of putting dry shampoo on as a substitute for actual shampoo. Again, that’s just me.

I like to switch up my shampoo/conditioner because you never want your hair to get used to one product. Right now, I’m using the Pantene Pro-V Moisture Renewal Shampoo/Conditioner. Before, I was using the Herbal Essence Body Envy Volumizing Shampoo that gave my hair fuller waves. Right now, I’m more focused on giving my hair moisture and hydration. That’s why I love switching up my products because I can give my mane tender, love, and care in so many ways. I usually like to buy the same brand conditioner as my shampoo. I just like having the same products going on my hair as opposed to having it all mixed up.

I do deep condition my hair every 3 days, so I’ll skip Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, then I’ll deep condition on Tuesday. Make sense? I love the Schwarzkopf Essence Ultimate Repair Moisture Treatment. My hair feels 100x softer and smoother after using this. My mane is also shiny, and it looks soooooo healthy.

(*Disclaimer* – I was sent a few Schwarzkopf products, and I absolutely fell in love with their hair treatment product! I wasn’t asked to include their products in a post but I wanted to share them with you because it has truly helped my hair).

Styling: When I’ve styled my hair too much, I like to add argan oil only on the ends of my locks. Since I get split ends and it’s more damaged in that area, I like to give it a little extra love and care. I’ve been loving the Josie Maran argan oil, which is actually a body oil, but I like to use it for my hair too! This one is currently sold out, but there are similar oils sold at Sephora and Ulta.

I’m obsessed with Garnier Fructis Styling Sleek and Shine Flat Iron Perfector Mist for those days when my hair just needs protection from my curling wand or straightener. I love the smell and how weightless the product is. Most heating sprays make my hair stiff and I love that this drugstore product makes my hair feel like I’ve added a light layer of protection.

Once I’m done styling my hair, I like adding either Garnier Fructis Texture Tease spray or the Not Your Mother’s She’s a Tease Volume spray. Not only do these products give my hair life, but they help my waves and curls last throughout the day! I just feel like Selena Gomez when I spray these products. It adds volume and it gives me the tousled hair look.

After I apply the texture spray, I’ll add the OGX Argan Oil or OGX Keratin Oil to give my hair shine. It also tames the fly-aways. I try not to apply too much or else my mane will look greasy. I’m beyond obsessed with these sprays because they truly give my hair life! I love the smell too!

I hope these tips help you!

Full Face Using Only Highlighters Challenge!

Hi dolls!

Grab your sunglasses because this post is going to be bright!

FULL FACE USING ONLY HIGHLIGHTERS

There’s this fun challenge happening – the Full Face Using Highlighter Challenge – and I couldn’t be more excited to share my makeup version with you lovelies. It all started with Mariya’s highlighter video. She used only highlighters to create a makeup look – and POOF – it’s turned into a viral makeup challenge.

FULL FACE USING ONLY HIGHLIGHTERS

Keep in mind, this look is solely meant to be fun! I mean, if you want to wear a full face of highlighter everyday, you go girl! You shine bright like a diamond! However, this is just a fun, viral makeup look happening. I honestly didn’t think I had enough highlighter products, but I whipped up a cute, golden goddess look for y’all! My powder, contour, eye shadow, gloss, EVERYTHING are highlighters/shimmery products. I seriously felt like Cleopatra, or a shiny trophy.

Hope you enjoy this post! Besitos! Share your looks with me. 🙂

Beach Day Essentials For Your Memorial Day Weekend Fun

Hi dolls!

Summer is almost here! If you live in Texas or LA, things are already starting to heat up. It’s almost Memorial Day and we all know a fun day at the beach is just what the doctor ordered! I live in Cali now and you bet your bottom dollar I’ll be soaking up the sun once summer rolls around. Just remember to wear your sunblock because Lord knows that peeling and redness is not a good look (and it’s really bad for your skin!).

I’ve rounded up my favorite beach day items that are both extremely affordable and cute! Of course, I couldn’t leave out sunblock and a big sun hat to block the UV Rays. I found some adorable heart-shaped sunglasses and the cutest looking jelly sandals ever! This tote bag I found just makes me tickled pink because not only is it from Target (steal!) but it has flamingos on the bag. How freakin’ adorable is that?

Beach Day Essentials

Sun hat: Forever 21 – $14.90 (similar item)

Bikini: H&M (Bottoms) – $12.95 (I noticed the top is $14.95)

Beach Bag: Target – $17.99

Sunglasses: H&M – $7.95

Sandals: Go Jane – $17.70

Sarong: H&M – $6.99

Sunblock: L’oreal – $10.99 (It’s SPF 50!)

Beauty Reviews: Revlon ColorStay 2-in-1 Foundation/Concealer

Hi dolls!

I’ll make this quick – I saw many YouTubers test out the Revlon ColorStay 2-in-1 Foundation/Concealer product, especially because many of them raved about how wonderful it works for oily skin. Since I have oily skin, I wanted to try it out myself. I do like this product, but I don’t love it. I’ve been using this foundation for a while now because I wanted to really see if I liked it. I decided to try something different this time by testing out a foundation with my glasses. See how it turned out by reading my review below!

Besos!
Revlon ColorStay Foundation Review

Overall Thoughts: I love that it does last all day without making me look greasy. It’s also lightweight and you can build up the foundation. Even though it doesn’t make me oily, I do feel extra oily. It works better if you don’t apply primer. It actually lasts longer without moisturizer or primer and you don’t get as greasy. The concealer isn’t that great. It’s actually pretty average.

I admit that when you have a blemish or dry patches of skin, this foundation does not work. I was having a bad skin care day (lucky for you to see the product in action though!) and I wasn’t impressed with how dry this foundation made my skin feel. Not only did it bring attention to my dry skin and pimple, but it also didn’t give me much coverage.

Revlon ColorStay Foundation Review

Buying tips: The foundation color looks darker than it actually is. So I would recommend picking the concealer shade closest to your skin tone. The product does oxidize, so I would also recommend going one shade lighter that way if it’s a little too light, you can totally add bronzer and contour to your makeup routine. I also think using a brush works better than a sponge applicator. Because the foundation dries extremely fast, the sponge doesn’t really work to blending the product out. The brush lets you buff in the foundation and you’re able to apply it evenly.

2 Hours after applying my makeup: My pimple was definitely dry and the makeup made things worse by actually highlighting that I have a huge planet on my chin. I don’t recommend using this foundation if your skin is dry or peeling. The rest of my face felt fine and looked great. I also love that I didn’t have glasses marks around my nose, which was a huge plus!

Girls Night Out Makeup Look

Hi dolls!

I wanted to change things up a bit and give you lovely ladies a girls night out makeup look. I have to admit I was recently binge-watching The Hills and fell in love (all over again) with Audrina Patridge’s makeup looks on the show. That girl really knows how to do a smokey eye!

Honestly though, I do feel like boss babe when my eyes look dramatic and smokey. I can feel my inner JLO come out. Plus, I just love a smokey/bronzed look for the Spring and Summer time. All you need is a leather jacket and some killer heels and you’ll be ready to hit the dance floor. 😉

I hope this makeup look inspires your next girls night out!

Xoxo!

The 10 Best Beauty Tips From My Mom To Celebrate Mother’s Day

Hi dolls!

It’s Mother’s Day and I want to celebrate my fabulous mother by sharing her best beauty tips. My madre is one strong, smart, and sometimes sassy woman. She’s the true definition of a #Girlboss. God not only blessed me and my brother with a wonderful, fabulous mom, but he also blessed us with a great stepmom as well!

To all of the mothers out there, stay fabulous!

Happy Mother's Day

Beauty Tips:

1. Sleep 7-8 hours

2. Limit alcohol drinking to only special occasions (we all know alcohol makes your skin breakout!)

3. Use Dove Soap as a face wash (I use this every night and my skin is so soft!)

4. Never been seen in public without some makeup (True Latina!)

5. Moisturize every night (I wish I did this more)

Happy Mother's Day

6. Wear sunblock (This is a must!!! So glad she has made me do this)

7. Microdermabrasion every other month (A little fancy, but totally worth it!)

8. Dramatize your eyelashes or lips, but not both (Again, she’s such a true Latina!)

9. Always look the part (This is probably the most important. You never know who you’re going to run into)

10. Fake it until you make it (and then know your stuff)
