I may be a 90s girl at birth, but I’m an 80s girl at heart. The Alamo Drafthouse and The Action Pack put on an 80s Dance Party that had me and my mom singing and dancing all night.
Before the night began, I was chosen as a volunteer to sing karaoke to “Take On Me,” and let me tell you, I, the girl born in the 90s, won. I felt like Madonna- full of energy, attitude and not a care in the world.
Though, we weren’t a fan of the playlist consisting of mostly boy songs, we had a lot of fun. We sang to Prince, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Pat Benatar, and many other great singers. The most memorable moment of the night was when Pat Benatar’s LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD music video dazzled the screen. Mom and I went to the center of the dance floor, used our blow-up guitars as microphones and sang our pretty little lungs out. We didn’t need to see the lyrics for this song. We knew that one by heart.
